Day 1 | Kampala | Rhino tracking | Murchison Falls N.P. (Travel Time 6hrs+)

Prepare for early pick up from Kampala at 6:30 am and travel to Murchison Falls National Park. En-route you will visit the Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Sanctuary — home to white rhinos in Uganda. Led by an armed ranger, you will set out for a 1 – 2 hours trek at the sanctuary to see the rhinos. The sanctuary supports other animals such as leopard, bushbuck, Ugandan kob and oribi among others. After the trek, return to the road, next stopover in Masindi town for lunch. Thereafter continue to Murchison Falls, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 | Game drive | Boat safari | Hike the top of the falls

At the top of Murchison Falls

You will have a quick cup of tea or coffee with a snack at 6 am and set off for a game drive in the park to see many animals. Giraffes, lions, elephants, buffaloes, baboons, warthogs, hyenas and many antelopes are not to be missed! Enjoy wonderful views of the lush savannah plains teeming with mammals and birds. The game drive will last 4 hours, return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation. Have lunch at 1 pm and at 2:30 pm go for the boat safari on the river Nile which offers incredible wildlife sightings. You get to see lots of hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants and plenty of waterfowl. The boat safari lasts 2 hours and ascends upstream to the base of the spectacular Murchison Falls. Here you will leave the boat and set off on a 2 km hike, up along the waterfalls to enjoy spectacular views of the world’s strongest waterfalls. The whole river squeezes through a 7-meter gap between rocks, exploding into such a breathtaking sight! The hike is roughly 45 mins, meet the driver at the top and transfer to the lodge. Have dinner and overnight.

Day 3 | Murchison Falls to Kibale National Park (Travel Time 10hrs+)

African White-backed Vulture

Cross with the first ferry at 7:00 am after your early morning breakfast, and depart to Kibale National Park. We drive south-westwards through the Albertine Escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. You pass through different villages, where you see people at work with their crops like sorghum, millet, beans and maize, and banana plantations. Reaching Hoima town and having lunch at Kontiki Hotel, and then continue to Fort Portal the beautiful and colourful town, the capital city of Tooro Kingdom. This rural Ugandan town is locally famous for its weaving and basketry, situated in the shadow of the fabled “Mountains of the Moon”, the Rwenzori. Heading to the Kibale Forest National Park.

Day 4 | Kibale National Park | Chimpanzee Habituation Experience

Early morning breakfast and drive to UWA headquarters for a briefing with rangers at Kanyanchu River Camp at 8:00 am, and set off for and set off for Chimpanzee Habituation Experience.

The Chimp Habituation Experience — all day with chimpanzees in their natural setting. The Chimpanzee Habituation Experience is limited to the number of visitors that can take part, one has to plan early to get a spot on the date that you would like. This is not like chimpanzee tracking where you can have a larger group, this is spending time with a team of trackers and researchers.

Chimpanzees are our closest relatives though they are among the endangered species in the world. You will be able to see other primates like black and white columbus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, grey-cheecked mangabey, red-tailed monkeys, bush babies, pottos and many bird species like the yellow-spotted nicator, rumped tinker bird, little greenbul, green breasted pitta, the crowned eagle, black bee-eater and mammals like Elephants can be seen in this walk.

Permit Prices for the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience are USD 200 while chimpanzee trekking is USD 150 per permit, for USD 50 more you are all-day with a chimpanzee group in Kibale Forest and normally it proves to be a most memorable time for those who take part in this activity.

Day 5 | Bigodi Nature Walk | Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park (Travel Time 2hrs+)

Chimpanzee at Kibale Forest National Park

After your breakfast embark for Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary which is located at the Eastern edge of Kibale forest and maintained by the local community which are surrounding the park. You will be able to spot birds like the great blue turaco, primates like blue monkeys, baboons, otters, mongoose, and antelopes, bushbucks, bush pigs among other.

Reach the lodge for refreshment and lunch, then in the evening depart for a game drive at Kasenyi sector in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This game drive will take 3 hours. There is a lot to see like leopards, lions, Ugandan kobs, African buffaloes, African elephants, waterbucks, bushbucks, hippopotami in savannah ponds among others.

Day 6 | Queen Elizabeth

Early morning game drive at 6:30 am, after your breakfast. The park is wonderful with lots of big animals and a very beautiful scenery. Expect to see lions, elephants, topis, kobs, buffaloes, hyenas, and leopards.

Afterwards check into your selected lodge for lunch and refreshment, later set off for an evening boat cruise at 3:00 pm on Kazinga channel between lake George and lake Edward, which takes 2 hours. Here you will have an opportunity to view over 500 species of birds including the flamingos, mammals at close range, the highest concentration of Nile crocodiles, and hippopotami submerged in water, and also African elephants, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs among others.

Day 7 | Queen Elizabeth to Kampala (Travel Time 5hrs+)

Have breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive to the southern region of the park called Ishasha. This area rewards with the rare sightings of the tree-climbing lions. Big mammals such as the topi are also found in this part of park only. Continue out of the park, have lunch en-route, stopover at the equator for photography and arrive late evening in Kampala. You will be transferred to your place of residence or to the airport.
