Klipspringer in Swahili: mbuze mawe (Oreotragus oreotragus)
Shoulder height: 60 cm; weight: 13 kg. The Klipspringer ia an agile antelope that’s normally seen in pairs and is easily identified by its dark, bristly grey-yellow coat, slightly speckled appearance and unique habitat preference. Klipspringer means “rock jumper” in Afrikaans, while the Swahili name maens “rock goat” both apt names for an antelope that occurs exclusively in mountainous areas and rocky outcrops. It is found throughout Tanzania, and is often seen around the Lobo Hills in the Serengeti and the Maji Moto area in Lake Manyara.
